Tips to Select A Yoga Teacher Training Program

If you want to become a yoga teacher, then following are some vital questions that you need to ask about any teacher training school you're considering.

Which Style of Yoga is Taught?

Don't opt for a yoga teacher training just because the dates fit into your schedule or its less expensive. Instead, it's always better to train in the style that you want to teach. And, if you find a school or institution appropriate, hut you haven't experienced its style then you must attend the class first or the least you can do is watch its video. You must also consider whether the program focus on just one style or does it have mix of styles. Each style has its own strength and specialty and if you really want to understand what you're teaching, it's best to focus on one style.

What Training Format do you expect?

It's totally up to you where you want to train. You can either travel to a residential training or could find a local training that lets you live at home the entire time. Each has its advantages. A local training allows you to continue your work or family responsibilities while you train, while a residential training lifts you out of that routine into a deeper, more transforming immersion in yoga as a way of life.

Which aspects of yoga does the training stress on?

Some yoga institutes focus only on the physical Asanas, thus viewing yoga as a fitness regime. Others see this ancient art as a tool for successful living on all levels, so they include a healthy lifestyle, meditation and spiritual growth. So, ensure that you get what you're looking for.

What should be the Size of the Class?

It's better to opt for a smaller class in size as you tend to get more personal attention in such situation.

Is the Institute a Reputed and Respected one?
Here, you need to ask as how long the school has been functioning, and how many yoga teachers they have had. If authenticity is what you're looking for then look for a school that's part of yoga tradition.

Are you comfortable with the faculty?

If you aren't aware of the faculty then you must ask to speak with him/her so that you can ask questions. Avoid being shy as you're considering a big commitment and it's perfectly a valid request.

Determine the View of Past Graduates?

Ask the yoga school to put you in touch with the people who've graduated in the past. Doing this can help you come to a conclusion and help you avoid big mistake.

How Much Can You Afford to Invest in Training?

For most students, money is a major factor when opting for a training program. You can expect to pay anywhere around 2,000 to 8,000 on the course and you will feel more pressure to feel that you have chosen the right one, the more you invest. If you select the residential program then you'll have to pay more as it will include food as well and don't forget the travel cost if you plan to train in an exotic location.

You need to consider all the above questions and ask yourself before opting for 200 hour yoga teacher training program. Remember, to be wise in choosing the yoga institute as you will be investing your hard earned money and valuable time.
